New user setup - Exchange servers/stores shown in wizard
OurExchange 2003 Sp2 system consists of 3 servers that containmail stores: Gateway Server - mailstore only present because the server runs SMTP Old Mailbox Server - very full: just about out of disk space. New Mailbox Server - where we want all new mailboxes to go. When adding a new user with the add user wizard in Active Directory Users & Computers, the wizard displays the Gateway Server first in the list of options to add mailbox. I believe this happens simply because the name of our Gateway server starts with "G", and our mailbox server names start with "X". Ideally we want the New MailboxServer to appear as the default choice fornew mailboxex. In fact, we would like the New Mailbox Server to show up as the only option for members of the Exchange View Only Administrator role, where we put our helpdesk folks. Does anyone know of a way to restrict and/or change the order in which mailbox servers appear in the ADU&C new users setup wizard? Thanks. Robert Singer Portland, Oregon USA

Hi Robert, Yes that is correct, Exchange servers will be listed in alphabetical orders but it is not possible to remove/re-order Exchange server in a list. You can rename the Storage Group and Mailbox Database on Gateway server with meaningful name like DB (DO NOT USE) and instruct the helpdesk users.
