New resources in Exchange 2003 won't show availability (free-busy)
Hello, we have 2 Exchange 2003 Ent servers. Our clients are mostly Outlook 2007 and few Outlook 2010. I created 7 new resources 3 weeks ago and 5 of them are not showing their availability through Scheduling tab in Outlook. I followed the instructions to setup the resources in Exchange and Outlook: http://www.cryer.co.uk/brian/msexchange/exch_howto_setup_meeting_room_resource.htm And it's not working. I can't see the free-busy info in Outlook... Please help me to fix that damn stupid thing. Alex

Add a calendar item to the resources. You will not see any free busy data until you have something in the calendar. Paul.

I knew that... There is stuff in all resources... (calendar item). So this is not the problem. :-(

Can you log into each of the rooms and do a cleanfreebusy?

When you invite the room as a resource, do you get confirmation that room has been booked. Do you seen gray lines or just no data? Make sure there are no restrictions on the account like send recieve as well.

- Yes I get the confirmation that the resource has been booked. - I see gray lines. - Restrictions? I didn't "played" with the account... Created in AD then setup done in Outlook.

Log back into the account and check the piece under the calendar that says how many days to publish. Tools - options - calendar options. check those settings to make sure the client is going to publish data.

It is setup to default. 2 months. Like all other old resources that are working. (And refresh info on server each 15min)

Does it not show when you log in from OWA? If it does, then it's just a bad local cache on Outlook. When viewing FreeBusy from outlook re-select the resource from the GAL don't use the cached entry. James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

How many Public Folders are there in the organization? Please perform James’s suggestion first. If the issue persists, I suggest you use the following method to access the Public Folder to view the Free/Busy information of the problem resource room directly: Note: If you have several public folder exists which contains the Free/Busy public folder replica, please access all of them to check whether public folder replication issue exists. XCCC: Description of the Command to Retrieve Free/Busy Information From a Calendar Public Folder http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813268/en-us Note: In the fbdata, 0 means Free, 1 means tentative, 2 means busy and 3 means OOF. Meanwhile, please check whether there is any Event error message in Application log. Thanks. I am curious to know the answer. 5 out of 7 mailboxes not working seems odd. I would think you would be seeing it with other accounts if it was a problem with the free busy folder.

James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com I checked in OWA. Same thing. It's shown as No Information (\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\)

- The resources are not Public Folders... it's almost a normal mailbox (The room resource is not a public folder... I know we can add a calendar in/as a public folder but it is not done like that... no reason at all... nobody does that...)... but the answer is ~35 public folders. And we don't use any of them since months/years... - James's suggestion: Done (answered few minutes ago) - The event log of the local Exchange server is empty of bad errors. it's working well. Thanks!

I am curious to know the answer. 5 out of 7 mailboxes not working seems odd. I would think you would be seeing it with other accounts if it was a problem with the free busy folder. Last week, I tried to give "too much rights" to one resource to see if "Author" was REALLY enough like it is said everywhere on internet... So I put Anonymous and default user to Editor... it does no real effect. Because while I has been able to see one free-busy info for the resource I played with, another one also started working. I move back the settings to Author and it's still working for the same 2 resources.

If you create a new resource account, does that work? These accounts are not in any groups are they?

They are already "7 new" resource accounts. What do you mean by "in any groups"? Which group you are talking about?

2 things you can try. 1. Move one of the resources to another database 2. Delete the PR_FREEBUSY_ENTRYIDS using mfcmapi on one of the resource mailboxes. Try 1 first. I discovered something weird. I can open all the calendars of the resources and see what is booked. (open shared calendar in my personal outlook) But I still can't see stuff when I add the resource in a new meeting... 8oO

I tried both things but it still doesn't work. 1- I moved the mailbox to our second server (we have 2 servers with 1 store on each one). Nothing changed. 2- I tried the procedure described. nothing changed. So?
