New malibox not in GAL
Exchange 2003. Whne I create a milbox it doesn't appear in Exchange Mailbox Store and doesn't appear in GAL. In some cases it is mailbox works right away (but still do not appear in gal or in mailbox store - you have to wait for 5 hours until it 'fixes itself'.)Is there any logical explanation to such behaviour? Thanks Elijah.

Hi, Mailbox won't appear in the mailbox store till user starts Outlook or OWA for the first time. I assume that when you say GAL you mean offline address book (used by Outlook) - this offline address book is generated by default once every night. Leif

Sorry, I should have mentioned that - I was able to open outlook (2003) and send en receive e-mail when logged as that user. But when I browse to mailbox store (doublechecked the store path in user properties in AD) I don't see it listed there. Any explanation to that? P.S. Thanks for clarifying the offline adress book timing. Elijah.

Hi, You should be able to see the mailbox after having Outlook started. Did you try to refresh the view? Leif

I did. I actually tried it with a number of users with the same result - no mailbox under the store, even though user properties point to that place. I hop I'm noe opening a can of worms and that is something simple. Elijah,

Mailboxes are not created in the store until Outlook or OWA opens the mailbox, or a message is received. This is because a mailbox is just a query of the mailbox database, and there will be nothing to show until there is some data in the mailbox.-- Ed Crowley MVP"There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems.". Mailboxes are not created in the store until Outlook or OWA opens the mailbox, or a message is received. I understand that, thanks for clarifying, but I beleive my situation is a bit different: 1. I created the user named TEST15 and created mailbox for him2. I logged in on the user workstation and configured his profile with Exchange (connected as TEST15 and succesfully resolved the name)3. Sent user and e-mail from my own mailbox and successfully received it in TEST15 mailbox4. Still - when I go to mailbox store I don't see TEST15 mailbox appearing in the list. (2 days gone and it is not there) I verified that user properties point to the correct mailbox store, verified display name - all seems to be in order.

Are you looking at the correct mailbox store? Have you refreshed the display? Other than that, I have no idea.-- Ed Crowley MVP"There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems.".
