New mailboxes do not appear in GAL (This is not an OAB issue)
I have an issue whenever I create a new mailbox. it never appears in the GAL until I run update-GlobalAddressList.I always log into OWA to test this. I can log in as the new user just fine and send / receive emails internally and externally however the account does not show in the GALAnyone have any ideas?ThanksMike

Look for any sort of AD related issues. Make sure , they are replicating well. Run DCDIAG and Repadmin to check for any error. also have a look into event ID for any error related to AD.Run AD MPS reports and ExBPA from exchange.Raj

Thanks Raj, I am not sure this is an AD replication issue though. Its simple setup. 1 Server 2008 with Exchange 2007 SP2 installed and 2 DC's both GC's When I create a mailbox in EMC the associated user account appears in AD just fine and I can log right away into OWA and onto the network. This is something within Exchange itself that is not updating the GAL unless forced through the update-globaladdresslist command.

The Update-GlobalAddressList is needed when mailboxes arecreated by other things that still depend on ther being a RecipientUpdate Service (RUS) to complete the processing.Do you have the same problem if you use the new-mailbox cmdlet fromthe EMS to create a new mailbox?---Rich MatheisenMCSE+I, Exchange MVP--- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
