New folders created in shared mailbox cannot be viewed
Hello All! I work for a small company using Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2007 in the office. Our operations team has access to 3 shared mailboxes. Each month, a new folder is added to the inbox of each of these mailboxes to organize all activity by month. The issue I have run into is that one of my associates cannot access one of the new folders that are created. She can access the new folders from mailbox 1 and mailbox 2, but not in mailbox 3. The other associates have no problems accessing the new folders in mailbox 3, it is only this one associate. I have looked for possibilities such as permissions being off, but I can't find any leads. Any suggestions here would be appreciated, thank you!

This may be related to certain extent. in the ESM , Navigate to the Mailbox database..\logons right click and select columns add/remove,, annd select Open Folders and Other appropriate columns You will be able to see the number of folders open ( there is Limit) also you can check in event viewer for events.( 9694 etc if sessiosn are more). You can also increase disgnostic logging .,.

How are you granting permissions to those mailboxes? Do you do so through Outlook, or through Exchange and ADUC? If they have full access to the mailbox, then through ADUC would be the best option, unless you need to keep users out of a certain folder. However, if the new folder are subfolders of an existing folder, then folder level permissions would propagate down - they only do that automatically at the point of creation. It certainly looks like a permissions issue. Simon. Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources

My user is on vacation at the moment so I can't check to see if these changes would work, but thank you all for the replies! I know I am the least experienced here, but permissions just don't seem to fit for me. That was what I looked at first, but then I got to thinking (could be trouble right? haha) Once a new folder is created, she is able to see all previous folders. By that I mean in September, she could not see the 09/10 folder. Once October rolled around and the 10/10 folder was created, she could see the 09/10 folder now. If permissions were off, she wouldn't see any of the folders right?

That is very odd behaviour. I would suspect a problem with the mailbox. Try stripping the permissions out, eaiting a few hours and then putting them back in. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources
