New email group does not show up in global address book
I am an Exchange newb. I created a new global, distribution group in AD, assigned members to it, assigned email addresses to it, and forced the update through ESM --> GAL --> RUS --> right click update. I can go into Outlook and enter the email address manually and the email will send to all of the members in the group. The problem is, check names will not find the account I created, it is not in the address book. There is one more simple step I am missing? What is it? Also, I want the + sign to show up next to the address, if it doesnt automatticaly so the sender can choose contacts from that group. Thanks!

Is your Outlook in cached or online mode? If cached it will not show up right away. Change to online mode or try OWA and see if you see the distribution group. Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

I tried switching to online mode, also checked on OWA and it is not in the GAL on there either. It cant be a problem with updating because I made the group last week, it would have been pushed out by now. Plus I forced the update.

Make sure it's not hidden from the address book. Also, check the event log on the server where the RUS runs. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . It is not hidden, I have it set up exactly the same in AD as another group is that does show up. See:

Did the group get email addresses automatically? It should have got two - an SMTP address and an X.400 address. If not, then Exchange isn't aware of it. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP. http://blog.sembee.co.uk , http://exbpa.com/

Hi, Please open ESM, expand Recipients, expand All Global Address Lists, locate Default Global Address List and right click it, select Properties, click Preview button, is the group displayed here? If it is in there, does there have multiple domains in your environment? If it does, that should the AD replication issue. If the user is not in GAL under ESM, that should be the attribute issue of the group object. You need to dump it and compare each attributes to working Group. Thanks Allen
