New contact objects not reflected in GAL
We just added about 1100 new contact objects via galsync. The objects do appear my active directory and are listed under the contacts node in Exchange. However they are not in my GAL. I've regenerated the offline address book and that did not affect anything. I also restarted the File Distribution Service, still no dice. Any other suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Youi should always post your version and service pack level of Exchange. Are the contacts mail-enabled? They won't show up in the GAL unless they are. What is this "contacts node in Exchange" you refer to? Contacts properly show up in a container or organizational unit in Active Directory. The global address list (GAL) is different from the offline address book (OAB). Typically the OAB is generated from the content of the GAL but it doesn't have to. Can you see the contacts when you're running Outlook in online mode or with OWA, as compared to running in cached mode? If you can see the contacts in online mode or with OWA but not in cached mode, then you have a problem with the OAB generation or you aren't waiting long enough. Before I go any further into helping you with this, it's important for you to figure out where the problem actually lies.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

As I told the contacts do show up in my Active Directory. Additionally, they are listed under Recipient Configuration -> Mail Contacts in Exchange Managment Console. My offline address book is configured to pull from the GAL. I've watied 3 days, I doubt performance is my problem. Taking my Outlook clients in and out of cache mode does not affect the ability to locate the new contacts in my GAL and they are not listed in the address book when accessing through OWA. Hi, From the description, that should be the GAL issue. Please run update-GlobalAddressList, and check the results. If the issue persists, please locate the contact and check the showInAddressBook attribute by using ADSI Edit tool. Is any value in there? Thanks AllenAllen Song
