New Users cannot be fount in Global Address List
Hi, I have a problem when i try to create a new Domain User on our Exchange Server 2003 it does not include exchange email address, so i will create it manually on the specific user. When i create an X400 entry it ask me to put a ADMD entry which was required but as per recipient's policy the policy has no ADMD entry on it thats why the users i added could not be synchronized on the address list. Can you help me to solve this problem and what are the affected part on our Active Directory that is not functioning properly resulting for our email server not to synchronized properly. Hi there, when you create a new mailbox for user in Exchange Server 2003 Environment, and you want to see all Exchange information for that user in AD as fast as possible, you have so many options: let the user to access his mailbox from Outlook (its better) or from OWA, but sometimes when SMTP Address does not appear in the user's properties, or you can't see the user under Mailsotre under ESM, then OWA will not work, so i do always prefer to access thier mailbox from Outlook to activate or populate thier exchange attributes in AD, so all Exchange attributes for that user will appear, including SMTP Addresses , and X.400 Addresses (If X400 was part of your Email Address Policy). for the user to appear under the GAL , what you can do , after you create a mailbox for that user, go to ESM (Exchange System Management Console) and update the Recipient Update Service, this will initiate RUS engine to update the GAL imidiately. Also, try to update the Offline Address Book, so Cached mode users will get the update OAB from the server. I hope the above information was helpful to you.

I think you refer to the attribute 'a' in the X400 address, its mandatory and its often set to ' ', (a space) if you create a new user and that user never get any mailaddresses, something is wrong with RUS (Recipient Updated Service) check that it points to correct Exchange server and Comain Controller, also check the schedule. Always means every minute

Hi Alaa, I try all of these but still the error is the same, if i create a user i don't see any entry in the email address for both SMTP or X400. I also apply the policy and update the RUS but still I cannot see the new users in the address lists. Even in online GAL i could not even see the added users on the list but if i access via webmail it is ok. Thanks again for your help. Arthur

Hi Lasse, In regards with the creation of new users there were no entry on Email Address and if i customizely add the email address for the attribute of X400 the ADMA always required entry thus in the repecipient policy does not match X400 attribute of the new users because as i said it requires ADMD entry while in the policy it is empty. Is there any workaround that i cando because i cannot configure users to use Exchange settings only SMTP? Please advise i need to work this out as soon as possible. Regards, Arthur

Ok, so you can see all your users under your Exchange GAL only from Webmail or OWA, but you can't see all of them from outlook client , right ? now, are you using Cache Mode in Outlook Clients ? if yes, i want you to disable Cache Mode from one of your clients that faces this problem and let them work with outlook in online mode, and open your GAL, i think you will be able to see all your users under the GAL. what you need to do is to reuild your offline address book generated by Exchange Server: open ESM (Exchange System Manager). under offline address book, in the right side, right click on the default offline address book, and click on rebuild. wait for a successfull rebuild msg. if you recieve an error, then you need to restart your exchange server or restart the system attendant service, then redo the offline address book rebuild again. from outlook client which is configured with cache mode settings, download offline address book from under synchronization settings. make sure that the download os sych finished successfully. open GAL and make sure that you see all the users. also make sure that your outlook client is updated with latest servcie packs and security updates from office update site. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/FX101321101033.aspx please let me konw if the above steps solve your problem or not.
