New Server2008, a few small problems
I just setup Server2008 and it seems to be working pretty well on the LAN. I have a few problems and Im not sure where else to turn. If anyone can give me any help or direct me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. I need to connect one workstation at another location. The local workstations can connect fine and seem to have no problems. I can remote connect to the server via VPN and Remote Desktop. If I try to join the domain from the remote location I get an error about not being able to find _ldap._tcp._msdc._child.domainname.com. How do I fix this problem the correct way? If I create a VPN, I can then join the domain. If I do join the remote workstation to the domain via the VPN, it seems to work fine. When I go to log in with a working user account then I get an error about not being able to connect to the logon server. I do have a firewall running DD-WRT between the server and the WAN. Did I miss a port or something? I have Server2008 running as a DNS server as well. How I can get the correct srv records to the WAN? Thanks for any help.

Hi, Please understand Active Directory.Since domain controller and internalDNS servershould not be published in the internet, client computercan not find these roles when you try to add to the domain from internet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_Directory Besides,if you need more help on AD,then I recommend you to use directory services related forum to get better help. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/winserverDS/threads/ Xiu
