Is there any reason to change the default Information Store name? In Exchange 2003 the name was simply Information Store, but now in 2010 the name includes several addition numbers. Thanks, --tj

If you're asking about the first Exchange Database that is created, you can use the Exchange Management Console to rename it. Under the Organization Configuration section, select Mailbox. From there select the Database Management tab and highlight the database to be renamed. Right click - Properties, and you can change the name there. If you would like to rename the actual file itself, you can use the Move Database Path command to not only move the physical location, but move the DB to a new file name. I don't normally keep the default name for my clients. I like to have the files named something that is easily recoginizable. (I orginally read you message as asking for help renaming the files..)
