New Exchange mailbox store database
We have one Exchange 2003 with 4 storage group. One of ourExchange database (DB1)has reachedover 100 GB. We are planning to create a new mailbox store and move all the mailbox from DB1 to NewDB1, delete the Database of the one that is over 100GB, remount the database so it will create a blank database and move user back to that database. Is this safe, would I encounter any error once I move user mailbox back? I figure this is faster than doing a defrag.

Whynot leave them in the new database? The thing to watch is your log file space during this movement. Makesure you have enough space to accomodate a large volume of log files,or make a full backup of the new database throughout your process. Iwouldn't recommend using circular logging to avoid the space problem.---Rich MatheisenMCSE+I, Exchange MVP--- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Hi, I suggest you leave the mailboxes on the new database. Could you please let us know why you want to move it back? Meanwhile, before moving on, I suggest you read the following article: Is offline defragmentation considered regular Exchange maintenance? http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2004/07/08/177574.aspx Thanks, Elvis
