New AD users no longer get email adresses assigned
Hi, Of some reason, when we create a new user account and chooses to create an exchange mailbox on the same time, the new users are no longer getting the email address assigned. We are running Exchange 2003SP1 on a 2000 AD, and haven't made any changes on the systems lately. I checked, that the "Automatically update e-mail addresses based on Recipient Policy" is ticked (which it is), and also I checked the recipient policy which looks as it should. Any ideas of what's going on or even better, goes wrong here?Tried to create useraccounts from different machines as well, all with the correct AD Users and Computers tool installed. If we afterwards just add the email addresses manually, they are not showing in the GAL. However, I haven't looked further into this, as the main priority to me is to figure out why the email addresses aren't created in the first place. Hopefully someone out there have heard of this before, and could post a lightning advice :) Cheers! Dennis

Hi Dennis, The recipient update service on exchange stamps your users with e-mail addresses so that's where you want to be troubleshooting. Look in the eventlog on the exchange server that runs this and see what, if any, errors are being produced. Personal experience, found this was down to permissions that exchange needed to stamp the exchange attributes with data were missing. Not sure the official method to fix the missing permissions but rerunning setup /domainprep fixed it for us. Post back with any relevane eventlog entries and\or take a look at this article for a walk through on troubleshooting http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2004/07/07/175444.aspx Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark, It seems that somehow the RUS wasn't working properly, and the solution to my problem was a simple restart of the System Attendant service. After it was restartet I did a Rebuild on the RUS, and shortly after all the newly created useraccounts had the email addresses assigned. Thanks alot for your input :-) Regards, Dennis
