New (old) unread email appears

Hi, I have a strange situation,

we are using Exchange 2010 with Outlook 2007. A user came to us and told us that she has 90 new emails, dating from anywhere form last week to 6 months ago. They we'rent not there last week. She never saw them. They also come from multiple external adresses, not just one.

We've checked the spam filter and all those messages were permitted on time of receiving.

Hi,

Do you have any trace logging enabled on the server side or the Outlook client side? If not, I'm afraid it will be difficult to find the reason for the situation. Nevertheless, please clarify the following questions so that we may check if we can find anything suspicious:

If we login to OWA, can you see these unread emails?

Are these unread external emails normal emails or AD/RSS emails?

Does the user have a virus scanner installed? A virus scanner may integrate itself into Outlook and may stop Outlook from receiving some emails.

If these emails are normal emails and the user is encountering send/receive issues in his Outlook, I'd recommend the user reconfigure his Exchange account to see the result.
