New-ExchangeCertificate cmdlet
Running windows 2008 sp2 exchange 2007 sp2. This is an internal certificate - do i need to added any options after typing the New-ExcahngeCertificate? Why can't i just renew - option isn't there. An internal transport certificate will expire soon. Don't understand the importantance of changing internal certificates, other than to mess up what is working ok. The STARTTLS certificate will expire soon: subject: MailMachine.local, hours remaining: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx8634D1F0. Run the New-ExchangeCertificate cmdlet to create a new certificate.

Sorry if i wasn't clear before - getting messages above.

Nothing will be messy... Run this cmdlet Get-ExchangeCertificate -thumbprint 123456 | New-ExchangeCertificate Then it will be renewed Jonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog

We have a godaddy certificate too - had to renew it in february of this year. Just went a got a new certificate for godaddy and installed. The old one still complains it's expired or about too, but i just ignore. Reason we go new one is the old had lower encrption. I was told in the ISS i could have just clicked on renew next to godaddy and renewed the old cert. How this works, I don't know. Going to be doing this in February of 2011.

If you've installed and activated the new certificate the old on is still in the certificate store but it shouldn't be used. Run get-exchangecertificate on the machine and see which of the certificates is active. If the old one is still there, get rid of it and enable the new one. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
