Netowrk Time Protocol in Server 2003
Dear All, I am a new and junior network administrator..1st job experience after graduation..I am facing a problem and hope u guyz definately have a soloution for me.. I am creatinga network for my company based on 200 employees. Active Directory/ISA2004/Ticketing/Monitoring/File serversconfigured successfully. Now i need to configure Network time protocl with external Time server which can synchronous with my internal servers and from internal servers to clients offcourse.. according to microsoft there needs to be changes and configuration in RegEdit. My Question these changes should be inDomain Controlleror any machine can be act as aTime server? Once I configured a time server & ifClient PC's time is different then cleint can logon to domain or not? finally how to configure a time server; microsoft technet configurations links are not enough for me to understand it clearly.. I'll appreciate if someone can gimme the link step-by-step configurarion with snaps (if possible ) or any thing like this.. Your fast responce will be highly appreciated. I use NET TIME /SETSNTP command to set this. It would look something like this: NET TIME /SETSNTP:TOCK.USNO.NAVY.MIL. You must have to make sure that your domain controller can use NTP through the firewall.
