Need to automatically delete emails from DR mailbox older than 5 days. No client interaction wanted.
Hi everyone, I will soon be taking on a new customer service email system that uses Exchange as its back end server for mail delivery. My question is this, we will have a main mailbox which will forward emails onto a secondary mailbox which will then be read into the CRM system. This in effect gives us a DR mailbox that we can recover emails from in the event of a read failure. Obviously though, this mailbox will quickly fill up with unread emails. What I need is a method to automatically remove emails from this mailbox that are older than 5 days. Ideally I don't want to involve Outlook or any other client to manage these rules. Is there a system within Exchange 2003 which would allow me to do this at all? Thanks to all in advance. Roy

Yes. Create a new recipient policy, but instead of checking 'email address' chekc the 'mailbox manager' policy box and set an ldap query that will return just that one mailbox (like set custom attrib 1 to 'delete5' or something) then set the policy to delete all mail in all folders after 5 days.
