Need to access a 2.5 harddrive (via USB connected disk enclosure) which is a Master Boot Record disk with 2 partitions defined
My problem scenario:I have had the motherboard on a Thinkpad T30 laptop go bad. I do not intend to fix the T30 laptop but I would like to access the data on it's internal harddrive. I purchased a 2.5 inch disk (USB connected) enclosure and connected to my new Windows Vista based system. When I bring up Windows Explorer I do not see the USB connected enclosed harddrive. When I do "Manage My Computer" and select "Disk Management" I see the harddrive (2 partitions) but no drive letter is assigned (to either partition). When I do a properties (via Device Management from the Manage My Computer) on the disk I see that the largest of the harddrive partitions is listed as a Master Boot Record disk.My question is there anyway for me to access this disk with out changing anything on the disk? If not, can I change the disk from being a Master Boot Record disk such that I can access the disk and not lose any data that is stored on the disk? Thanks!!!Roger Speerdspee@charter.net

Hello Roger, It seems the current issue is a Vista OS issue. Please understand that we mainly discuss Exchange issues in this forum. As your issue is related to Vista OS, we are not the best resource to troubleshoot the issue.
