I have a client that is using Exchange Server 2003 through a Windows SBS 2003 SP1 install. Exchange server has SP 2 installed. I have a client that gets the following NDR when he tries to send an email to carpenterj@wbu.com. Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: Solar Thermal Estimates Sent: 8/21/2008 3:52 PM The following recipient(s) could not be reached: Jim Carpenter (carpenterj@wbu.com) on 8/23/2008 4:01 PM Could not deliver the message in the time limit specified. Please retry or contact your administrator. <mertenhomes.com #4.4.7> Since the error is coming from the mertenhomes.com server, is this something that needs to be fixed on my end or on the wbu.com end? Can you send to other users at @wbu.com okay? Can you send to the carpenterj@wbu.com from other e-mail systems? This sure seems like the messages are just sitting in the sender's queue and not being able to be delivered. It could be because of a DNS problem or the wbu.com system could be down.

I tried sending an email from the same sender who is having the problem to BurkholderC@wbu.com. The emails are sitting in the exchnage queue. When I go to mxtoolbox.com and check the MX records, everything looks to be correct. The IP address is correct, The MX record is correct and the Reverse DNS check points to the correct IP address. I am able to send emails to the wbu.com domain from my ithandyman.com domain so there system is running. Thanks for your assistance in this matter. Jim

Hi Jim, Whether you are able to telnet to the wbu.com successfully? If you are able to telnet to the server successfully, please type ehlo and post the result here. In addition, please enable SMTP log for further information. Mike
