Multiple email servers...exchange 2007...I want to remove one whats the best way??
Hi All, I have two email servers in the organsation (exchange 2007)and now one is Redundant, everyone is moved across to the server and everything is running fine. What is the best way to remove the redundant one for the organsation? I notice if i simply switch the old one off, clients notice in in outlook it connects and states "waiting to update folders" so the old one is playing some role still. I have removed all the roles (via maintence mode) from the old one and the only thing left is the mailbox role. I just a bit worried if i completely uninstall the server it will bugger everything up. Is there a better way? or is that the only way Also i noticed in adsiedit our old server is showing up but not the new one but everything email was is ok... please help!!!

Hello John, Basically you need to move all public folders if you have on old server. Reference: How to remove Exchange 2007 from a computer http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927464 If it is in coexistence mode then you can refer below article. How to Remove the First Exchange 2007 Server in a Coexistence Scenario http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb310767(EXCHG.80).aspx You can see your new server at below path in ADSIEdit.msc. Adsiedit.msc -> configuration -> services -> Microsoft Exchange -> YourOrgName -> Administrative Groups -> Exchange Administrative Group (FYD...) -> YourNewServerName
