Multiple Roles on Exchange Server 2010
Hello All, I just have a basic question. I have a small organization (50 users/mailboxes). Nothing huge, so the budget is also not huge. I know in an ideal situation exchange should run on it's own server with nothing else. Would it be a big no no if it was also my Symantec Backup Server and that's it? Other than email, it would run my back ups at night. Nothing major there either. About 300gb across 3 servers. Which I am hoping to consolidate even more. Thanks for the input!

I would advise not running your email server as also your backup server. If you lose that box, how will you restore your email without having to rebuild exchange? I left out the part that it goes to tapes. The backup data doesn't actually sit on the server. So if I lost that box, I could still restore from the tapes. Does that make more sense?

Hi,Generally, we do not recommend to have other application to be installed on the same Exchagne Server. For this issue, the budget may affect the deployment a lot. Before you start to deploy, please check the system requirement for Exchange 2010 and requirment for System requirement for Symantec Backup Server Exchange 2010 System Requirementshttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719.aspx<!---->Symantec Announces New Backup and Archiving Support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010http://www.symantec.com/about/news/release/article.jsp?prid=20091109_01Regards,Xiu
