Multiple Mailboxes in Exchange -
I am trying to setup multiple mailboxes in Outlook. The main account is the users personal account. The second account is a shared account that multiple users access. I am using Send on behalf of permissions for the user to sendan email from the second shared account, however the mail is sent via the users main personal account. Therefore all sent items are stored in the users main personal account. Unfortunately the other users that share the second mailbox cannot see these sent items. Does anyone know a solution to enable the sent items to be stored in the second shared mailbox instead of the users first mailbox. I was hoping that a simple client-basedrule would have been sufficient ... i.e. Check messages after sending -> from <second mail account> -> move to sent items of second account. However the rules wizard cannot check the "from" condition when checking mails sent. I have also read up about using custom actions ... However I'm not sure about the best way to proceed. I just wanted to check if anybody already has solution? Thanks, -Conor.

Yea.. Microsoft has always went with "If you sent it, you sent it" theory. I guess they don't want you to be able to send as your boss to try to get him in trouble. Since it is moved to your sent items, they feel it's safer?? <shrug> This is the best I can think of off the top of my head. It's a hack to allow you to choose where to save the message when you send it. "Can we say Lotus?" http://www.outlookcode.com/d/code/setsavefolder.htm

Hello, I have a similar set up. We have shared mailboxes and personal mailboxes on exhcnage 2007. What we did though was configure the shared mailbox as themain account and the personal one as the second account. This was you force everyone to use the shared mailbox and all in that group can view. Same drama though, our users can no longer send personal emails, as the personal emails go to the sent folder of the shared group. Isn't a problem for me as the network admin, means they have slowed the amount of personal emails, I would still like it fixed though. Anyway, i recommend set up the group as the primary account. Stephen, Unfortunately we want to have traceability to the person that sent each email. I think that if I set up the shared mailbox as the primary mailbox I would lose this traceability. -Conor.

We just force personal signatures in the bottom of each email for tracking. You may even be able to enforce this via an outlook group policy if you have AD. Im still new to AD so cant confirm that one Cheers

Had the same issue with Outlook 2007. You can try this registry option: [HKEY_USERS\<user account>\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Preferences] - add a DWORD and name it DelegateSentItemsStyle (Reg_Dword) and set it to 1. This also works in a TS Web Access scenario too. Fuel

Thanks Fuel! Tested this using outlook 2003 setting the regkey in 11.0 instead of 12.0 works like a charm!
