Multiple Exchange 2007 servers in a single domain
Is it possible to add a second exchange 2007 server into an existing domain that already has one? If so what are the steps or are there instructions. I need to add a second exchange server at a separate location in a existing domain and have the email replicate between the two servers. Would this be setup as some sort of load balancing? thanks

WHY not, you can add.But in which senario you are talking about. which role you want to add MBX.HUB,CAS. For your question of email replication I would suggest you to go with CCR and SCR. Hope you are well aware about this. Please visit below link:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124721(EXCHG.80).aspxhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124521(EXCHG.80).aspxhttp://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Installing-Configuring-Testing-Exchange-2007-Cluster-Continuous-Replication-Based-Mailbox-Server-Part1.htmlAnil

Hi Per your description, do you want to deploy a new exchange server just for replicating the email for the current server? If so, it seems you want to deploy a high availability system for your exchange server, right? Because there are several roles of the exchange 2007 server, you could deploy another server role, but how to and which one to deployed, it would depend on your target, you could refer to below link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124721(EXCHG.80).aspx After all, there are so many information, so, could you please tell us what exactly you wish to achieve, we could gave you more suggestion. Yes, installation steps are similar as you did for the first server. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125169(EXCHG.80).aspx

Hello, Thanks for the reply let me clarify a little. Is it possible to add a second exchange 2007 server into an existing domain at a second site? The users at the first site where the exchange server is located does not have any problems with email but the users at the second site which is part of the same domain have problems connecting to email from time to time. I wish to add an additional email server (separate hardware) along with the domain controller that is there. I would like to keep the same mailboxes on both servers and not treat the second exchange server differently. I have been reading about CCR and it appears I need to configure the servers to work as a custer which I think would mean rebuild and start over which is not an option. Can someone point me to a simpler solution. I am only talking about 200 mailboxes total at both sites.

Hello If I understand you correctly, Yes, you can add another exchange server 2007 on the second site and you can add the Mailbox Role and possible CAS role as well. I don;t think CCR is required. Hi Jim, Sure, if you just have 200 mailboxes you could not use the CCR for the high avaiability. You also could refer to below get some information: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123567(EXCHG.80).aspx Regards! gavin
