Multiple Address Books In Exchange 2003
HiAs a company we have now taken on under our group names multiple other companies...So the GAL with all the contacts in them is now rather big...I was wondering is there a way of creating seperate address books for all these outlook contacts which are stored in their own OU in AD.The GAL is close to 500 names we want the Global Address Book then an address book for each company, that the user can choose fromI have tried creating a offline address book and it wont download so maybe m barking up the wrong tree..Thanks for any tipsET

GAL Segregation in Exchange 2003 is not supported by changing or modify permissions. However, you can use product called HMC (Hosted Messaging and Collaboration) software to do GAL Segregation. It is FULLY supported on native Exchange 2007 SP1. You can refer white paper linkhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb936719.aspx- White Paper: Configuring Virtual Organizations and Address List Segregation in Exchange 2007.V Bala R Krishna

Hi,You can deny the Open Address List permission for the Authenticated Users on the Public Folder and All Contacts via the ADSI Edit tool. For the ADSI Edit tool, please locate it in the installation file of Exchange, you can view the article as the reference.http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/ebca3324-5427-471a-bc19-9aa1decd3d401033.mspx?mfr=trueThanksAllen

Check Everyone group and Authenitcated Permissions.I hope you already deny for these groups, this while doing segregating address list. In case if you created a security group and added those permissions on the segregated Address list, make sure have granted "Open Address List" permissions, because when configuring Outlook profile, it checks for this permission in AD on Default GAL or Segregated GAL/AL.V Bala R Krishna

HiOk you have totally confused me this is where I am at ....1. I need to hide All users all contacts etc .... in adsi edit which group needs to have read permissions denied etc2. I have created another address book and given myself under my domain login full rights to the address book ..but from within outlook I cant add contacts to the address book which I thought I would be able to ...Im not an exchange expert I know my way around it but a bit confused why if the permissions are set it wont let me add to it ....
