Multilingual Support For Windows Server 2003 Kerberos (Domain Names With Accented Characters)
Hi,I've been using a Windows 2003 Server As a Primary KDC For My Network Which Contains Domain Names and Realm Name with Accented Characters(Hungarian Characters - UTF-8 encoding). The Problem I'm Facing Is That When I Try To acquire a TGT from The KDC for One of The Linux Server With Accented Characters The Kinit Function Fails With Kerberos Error - 68(Wrong Realm). We've MIT Kerberos Library In The Linux Server For The TGT.On Further Investigation With The Help Of A Ethereal Dump, What we noticed was that the AS_REQ for The TGT From The Server with Accented Characters reached the Windows KDC properly, but the response from the KDC truncated the accented characters and replied with a wrong realm Message Back To The Server. The Exact Kerberos Request As Shown On Ethereal :MSG Type: AS-REQ (10)Client Name (Principal): vrs/biplbgurd.xmpl.cmServer Name (Unknown): krbtgt/XMPL.CMThe Reply From The KDC As Shown On Ethereal :MSG Type: KRB-ERROR (30)error_code: KDC_ERR_WRONG_REALM (68)Realm: XMPL.CMServer Name (Unknown): krbtgt/XMPL.CMFrom the Dump It is noticed that the accented Characters From The Realm name request was truncated in the reply (XMPL.CM becameXMPL.CM)So My Question Is : Does The Microsoft Kerberos Implementation support Non-ASCII Characters In The Domain Name. If It does what exactly is the Method To Configure It.Note: The Locale Of The Server was set to Hungarian.

Hi, Please understand that we mainly discuss Exchange issues in this forum, in order to get a prompt answer, I suggest writing a post on the Windows Server forums: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/winservergen/threads/ In order to get a better consistency, I have delete the other duplicate thread. Thanks, Elvis
