Moving the public and private stores....Mount Issues
Currently I run a Compaq ML350 G3 server, raid 5 setup, and my current array partition is almost out of disk space. I have added additional hot swap drives and created a new partition with plenty of new space. I have tried to move my Exchange stores 2 times, both of which ended with me having to move them back to their original location under the MDBdata folder. I have Exchange 2000...(No snickering) I have created a folder on the new drive for each store, one called private, and one called public. After I successfully move both stores to the new drive and folders, the system attempts to re-mount the stores automatically, and fails. The system WILL NOT mount the stores in their new location. I have to move them back to their original location to get the services to start and the stores to mount. I have checked the security rights of the MDBdata folder against the new folder on the new drive, and they appear to be identical. I'm desperately running out of disk space each day that goes by, I'm now down to 5 gig of free space where the stores are...soon things will start to fail on my server.... ANY help would be greatly appreciated.....what the heck have I missed....what am I doing wrong? Regards, Ryan Carter

I had the same issue and for me it turned out to be an Active Directory replication issue. What I did: dismount the stores manually, relocate, wait 1 to 2 hours, attempt mounting.
