Exchange databases are server specific. You can't just pick up a database file and move it to another server, and you certainly cannot move between versions. To move content between the servers you will create new databases and then use the Move Mailbox wizard to move the data across. There is no shortcut of moving the database files because they are not compatible with different versions. The full migration procedure is outlined on Technet. You can't move a database between two different release of Exchange (at least not in the last tne years). To move a database between servers running the same release within the same orgaization, see "Database Portability". http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876873.aspx or http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123954(EXCHG.80).aspx To do what I think you want to do (move mailboxes to a new server running Exchange 2010) you should just move the mailboxes rather than the database. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

As above mentioned, you cannot move the mailbox databases or Storage Group directly from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010. You can only move mailboxes between the two different versions of Exchange server. For your reference, you can refer to the following article to move mailbox. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638192.aspx Thanks.
