Moving legacy mailbox from exchange 2003 to 2007 fails
A new installation of exchange 2007 on a new server. The "old" Exchange 2003 server runs fine, and it seems like the new exchange 2007 installation does the same. All mailusers can be seen, and I have not experienced any problems during the install. When I now try to move a mailbox from old server to new, I get the following error:Error was found for Testus Pestus (testus@test.com) because: Error occured in the step: Preparing mailbox to be moved. Failed to copy basic mailbox information with the error: The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service could not find the specified object., error code: -105674921I have also tried it with the Exchange Management Shell, but get the same error. When I do a lookup in the database with i.e. Exchange Management Shell, it finds the user without any problem.Anyone got a clue where the problem might be?Thanks,Morten

I had this issue also, running the Best Practices analyzer pinpointed the issue for me (Permissions Test). Cheers Dan

This may sound strange, but it's what fixed our problem. We had an entire OU of users that we were migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. We had this exact same error, but for only one user in that OU. It turned OU that the users "Simple Display Name" on the "Exchange Advanced" tab was a series of a couple dozed spaces. At first glance it looked empty, so I clicked in it and noticed the spaces. As soon as I plugged in a valid display name, that didn't end with a space, I could immediately move the mailbox. I haven't done any research into the exact 'why' of this problem, but I'm sure it's because a space is not a valid ending character for a display name. We've seen this in other fields as well that are updated by a "home grown" account creation tool. So while you may not have a space in the simple display name, you may have another field that ends with a space or has another invalid character.Jeff

Hello Can you disable anti-virus service and check move mailbox. Also Run the Best Practice analyzer tool post it on the Forum. Check the Application log when the Move mailbox failed. Thanks Mhussain
