Moving an Exchange Database from one Exchange server and domain to another.
Hi There, I need to move a mailbox database from one companies mail server to another companies mail server. The two companies are on different domains. I thought I could simply dismount the DB, copy it, then import/attach it on the new server then attach the mailboxes to the new accounts but there isn't this option. Does anyone have a best practice for this? I have a copy of the ecb file, is there a way for me to perform a recovery of the time into the new server. Any help is much appreciated!

Hi You need to move the users between organisations using Exchange (version dependant) or a 3rd party tool. If this is not possible then a 3rd party database recovery tool is your only option. Cheers, Steve

The New Remote Move Request will only work between domains in the same forest, these two domains are not in the same forest. Would it be simplest for me to just add their DC to our domain then use the Remote Move Request? Any recommendations re 3rd party applications?
