Moving Public Folder Database to Another Server Exchange 2007
Hi All
I have a procedure for moving the mailboxes from one set of 2003 servers to new 2008 mailbox servers on a new CCR Cluster.
That involves un-presenting LUNS and re-presenting to new servers and using mount points for logs and databases, then creating the same SG's in the EMC and creating same databases pointing to dummy location.
Then moving the SG and DB paths to point to the presented LUNs with the -ConfigurationOnly switch and this works, but i'm not sure abouth moving the Public Folder SG and DB This way?
What is the best wasy to move the Public Folder SG & DB to the new cluster as we're still using Public folders and have lots of info in them?
Scenario:
Mailbox01 & 02 - Cluster1 - Public Folder Database
Need to move PF to :
Mailbox03 & 04 - Cluster2 - Public Folder Database

Hi,
If you are trying to move public folder from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 in CCR environment, you can follow this suggestion
to do that:
when you are migrating public folder data into a CCR environment, you can use public folder replication to move the contents of a public folder database from a stand-alone Mailbox server
or a clustered mailbox server in an SCC to a clustered mailbox server in a CCR environment. After you create the public folder database in a CCR environment, the additional public folder databases should only be present until your public folder data has fully
replicated to the CCR environment. When replication has completed successfully, all public folder databases outside of the CCR environment should be removed, and you should not host any other public folder databases in the Exchange organization.

Hi, No i'm moving from W2K3 servers (Exchange 2007) to W2K8 (Exchange 2007), I have seen the article you describe above but although it seems to move everything, it leaves a few folders on the old clustered server, and if i try to remove them through
toolbox it also removes the entries for the new cluster server ?

Hello,
If there is replicate between public folders, when you remove the items through toolbox, it also will remove items from other public folder.
