Moving Mailstore from StorageGroup to another drive
We are currently running EX2003 ENT SP2 with 2 nodes (Active/Passive) cluster. The EX2003 connects to the SAN. We have 3 StorageGroup, SG1 and SG2 has 3 mailstores each and SG3 has 5 mailstores. Each SG stores within the same drive and log file with different drive (e.g. SG1MS1, SG1MS2, SG1MS3 are in G drive, Log file for SG1 in H drive, SG2MS1, SG2MS2, SG2MS3 are in I drive etc.) On SG3 (K drive), we noticed we have only 18GB left (out of 200GB). I wonder, can we move one or two MS in SG3 to another drive while other drive is holding other SG? i.e. In K: drive, which now contains SG3MS1,SG3MS2,SG3MS3,SG3MS4,SG3MS5. Move SG3MS1 and SG3MS5 over to I: drive which currently holding SG2MS1,SG2MS2,SG2MS3. I found an article on how to move the MS to another drive http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821915 but do I need to:- 1) Add the permission in Mdbdata directory (I thought it has the permission already). 2) Create the Working Directory in the registry? 3) Do I have to do anything on the passive node (or in the cluster manager) Thanks in advance!!

Thank you very much for the replied. Instead of moving the MS from K: to I:, what if I have a new drive assigned. The storage team will provide me with an additional disk space. (1TB, but I think I will split to two 500GB). I wonder what's the instruction to add additional 2 drives in the exchange cluster environment? (Active/Passive) I am not planning to move the SG. I am only moving the MS to the new drives. It will be (G:)SG1MS2, (K:)SG3MS3, (K:)SG3MS5 moving it to O: drive (new drive) and R: drive (new drive) Can I follow the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821915 instruction too? I assumed because this is new drive, I do need to add the permission in the Mdbdata directory, right? What about the Working Directory registry? Are there any additional steps I need to do? Thanks again!!

That'll work as long as the new disks are part of the cluser, just asthe ones you're using now are.>I wonder what's the instruction to add additional 2 drives in the exchange cluster environment?
