Moving Exchange Transaction Logs...
Windows Server 2003 SP2 Exchange 2003 SP2 I have read a lot of comments that having the Transaction Logs and databases on the same partition is bad for performance and I have found an article that describes how to move them http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821915, can anyone tell me why this would not be a good idea? Also, our system has two logical drives, one RAID1 (system one partition) and a RAID5 (data one partition) Exchange is installed on the data partition, I want to move the transaction logs to the system partition, any issues with this? Finally, the article above makes it sound very simple to do this, are they leaving out any details I should consdier? Many thanks in advance!

Moving the logfiles is as simple as explained in the article You really want to do this because once your RAID 5 is broken and you need to do a restore you still have all your logfiles and they will replay again all messages so that your database will be up to date untill the last email Performance is another advantage you will have for RAID 1 as Logfiles are just written sequentially Deli
