Moveing All Servers and clients to a new IPs and Subnet
Dears, We are relocating the Data Center to new location and wil use new IP/Subnets there. I have to change the IP address of all the Servers as there will be new IP schema/ Subnet on new location. Among the Serves i have: 2 : domain controllers one is GC as well. DCs are DNS and one DC is DHCP server. 1 : Exchange Server - no MX records locally - Emails are forwarded to main Exchange server in remote Location. Some Connecters are in place. 60 : Workstations - no issees with them. Now Is there any risk in changing the IP address of the above servers.there are some SQL servers and other servers present. What are the best steps to follow to change the IP address. New location and old location will have connectivity. Both sites/locaations will be interconnected with 1 MB link. Now should i change the IP address in old location itself first or move the servers to new location and proceed the ip and subneet change there. I will be changing the IP and subnet of DC1 and DC2 first. What other things needs to be verified before chainging the IP'/subnet of Exchange and other servers? Well ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig/registerdns and stop and stat net logon services will be carried on. What about reverse lookup zone in DNS.? And What steps i should take to apply the IP and subnet change in Exchange server? Might have some more question in next posts. Thanks and appreciate your feed back in advance. You can change IP address of Exchange BOX (Handle with care). Make sure its not clusterd environment. Once you change IP then recheck all setting and event log for any surprise. For changing IP of GC-DC i would suggest you to ask a question in AD forum. Below post will give you some insight about it.
