Moved to Exchange 2010 trying to un-install Exchange 2007
I'm trying to un-install Exchange 2007 from a server because I've moved to Exchange 2010. I've migrated all of my mail boxes and offline address book to Exchange 2010.When Itry toun-install Exchange 2007 I continue to get the following message:Mailbox Role PrerequisitesFailed Error:Uninstall cannot continue. Database 'CSCD Public Folder': The public folder database "CSCDSERVER10\CSCD Storage Group\CSCD Public Folder" is the default public folder database for the following mailbox database(s):CSCDSERVER10\CSCD Storage Group\CSCD Mail BoxesMailbox Database 0621039755. Before deleting the public folder database, assign a new public folder database to the mailbox database(s).Recommended Action: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=30939&l=en&v=ExBPA.12&id=b6e3b32a-8848-46cb-9567-72288ac15f60I've tried to remove thePublic Folderdatabase but I also receive the same message when I tryusing EMC.How do I satisfy the above requirement to un-install Exchange 2007?Thanks

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb629522.aspxHow to Change the Default Public Folder Database for a Mailbox Database Change this on the 2010 server and make sure the mailbox stores on that server are pointing to a 2010 public folder store. If you havent created a 2010 public folder store, you will need to and replicate all the 2007 public folders ( andsystem folders if you are using any clients older than Outlook 2007)to it before you can remove the 2007 server.

I tried the above link and I continue to get the same results. The EMC shows that the new public folder database on the 2010 Exchange server is the default. What is wrong here?

Does "Mailbox Database 0621039755" still exist?

Yes, it does exist on the Exchange 2010 server. There is no such Mailbox Database on the Exchange 2007 server. Thanks

Ok, restart the Exchange services on both servers. If all the 2010 mailbox stores are set to the 2010 public folder server, this doesnt make sense. After restarting the Exchange Services, see if you can remove the pf store on the 2007 server. If all the replicas are removed, it should let you.

I restarted both the Exchange 2007 and 2010 server and tried to do a un-install. I continue to get the same results. When you say remove the Public Folder Store do you mean delete the store via windows Exploer? There are no mail boxes on the Exchange 2007 server. When I view the mailbox database on the Exchange 2007 server I see that the it is pointing to the Exchange 2010 public folder database. I just don't understand why this is not working?I'm open for any suggestions. Thanks

Ok, point the 2007 mailbox database to the 2007 pf and see if you can uninstall. If not, remove the 2007 mailbox and pf stores via EMC, then attempt the uninstall.

I'm still trying to remove the Public Folder database. When I try to remove the Public Folder database the system continue to tell me that I have folder in the database. However, there are none and have I've never created any. Thereforeit willnot allow me to remove the Public Folder database. The previous error message has been resolved.I think I'm closer. Why does Exchange 2007 think the Public Folder database contains folders when I've never createdany?I've run a Power Shell script to remove any foldersthat may be in the database. The script is as follows:Get-PublicFolder -Server CSCDSERVER10 "\" -Recurse -ResultSize:Unlimited | Remove-PublicFolder -Server CSCDSERVER10 -Recurse -ErrorAction:SilentlyContinueI then run the followingPower Shell command:Remove-PublicFolderDatabase -Identity "CSCD Public Folder"I get the following error message from the above command:--------------------------------------------------------Microsoft Exchange Error--------------------------------------------------------The public folder database 'CSCD Public Folder' cannot be deleted. CSCD Public FolderFailedError:The public folder database "CSCDSERVER10\CSCD Storage Group\CSCD Public Folder" contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database. For detailed instructions about how to remove a public folder database, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=81409. --------------------------------------------------------OK--------------------------------------------------------Again thepublic folder database never had any folders created. Why does it think that it contains folders?I get the following message when I run the un-install for Exchange 2007:Summary: 4 item(s). 3 succeeded, 1 failed. Elapsed time: 00:00:17 Mailbox Role PrerequisitesFailed Error:Uninstall cannot continue. I don't have a machine that has Exchange 2003 System Manager installed. Is there another way to resolve this issue? I ran the following command to remove any folders in the Public Folders database: Get-PublicFolder -Server CSCDSERVER10 "\" -Recurse -ResultSize:Unlimited | Remove-PublicFolder -Server CSCDSERVER10 -Recurse -ErrorAction:SilentlyContinueTherefore, there should be none and I don't see any. Do I have any other options? Thanks
