Move content between MAPI PF and General Purpose PF
We have client have a very large PF store on exchange 2003 ent (500GB+). Now we want to create a secondary PF Store so we can archive some of the content to this store. we understand that in outlook you can see only the MAPI PF and we kindly worked around this issue by creating a folder and change the homepage to the web based PF to point to the secondary PF store. but now the question is we cannot move content between those two stores. Any suggestion??

You can try to swap the MAPI Public Folder tree with a Non-MAPI Tree for content movement, please test it in a lab before perform any action in the production environment 1. Launch ADSI Editor 2. Expand Configuration container > services > Microsoft Exchange > Name of your Org > Administrative Group > First Administrative Group > Folder Hierarchies 3. Open the “Folder Hierarchies” container, and double-click the Non-MAPI public folder 4. Set the value of “msExchPFTreeType” to 1 5. Click on the existing MAPI public folder properties and set the value of same attribute value to 0 6. In ESM, go to the properties of the mailbox store 7. Make the “public folder” point to the new public folder store 8. Create few folders in the PF Tree, in order to generate a PF hierarchy 9. Restart the “System attendant” service 10. Open IIS, go to the Properties of “Public” virtual directory (MAPI) 11. In the “Virtual Directory” tab, modify the path and point to the new Public Folder tree (Non-MAPI) 12. Right-click on the “Public” virtual folder and select browse to verify you can browse the new PF Tree 13. Now, open the outlook client and you should be able to see the public folders 14. To extract the contents, Export the public folders into a PST file and save it locally on the computer 15. Once the contents have been saved, revert back to your original setting following the above steps again James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
