Move Mailbox Then Delete Old .EDB
I have a rather large .edb file that I would like to shrink. But instead of perfoming an off line defrag I was thinking of something different. I have some extra disk space on my SAN that I can use temporarily so I was thinking about createing a new storage group and log group on seperate drive spaces and moving the mailboxes to the new storage group. After I have moved all the mailboxes I would delete the old empty .edb file then reverse the process. Am I missing anything that may make this not work?

Hi,no, that should do it. Be careful during the move that you have enough space on the target drive and for the TA-Logs.Viele Gre Walter Steinsdorfer MVP Exchange Server http://msmvps.org/blogs/wstein
