Have you head of System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)? It goes along with SCDPM (not a popular product) and SCVMM (for managing virtualization) and SCCM (formerly known as SMS) http://www.microsoft.com/systemcenter/en/us/operations-manager/om-overview.aspx "CraMey" wrote in message news:4c7cc858-ff56-42e4-94f4-5a0cf0a09308... You could probably use a script and a scheduled task to periodically check the store status via WMI. What kind of alert do you want? If you use email, it should probably be to an external account. An email alert to your Exchange mailbox won't help if that mailbox was on the store that dismounted.[string](0..33|%{[char][int](46+("686552495351636652556262185355647068516270555358646562655775 0645570").substring(($_*2),2))})-replace " "

Hi Mark thanks for your reply I just discovered that we have SCOM - i'm busy looking at it and i see it has the exchange management pack installed. We havent used the product before I could scroll in the Monitoring window down to Exchange 2003 > Storage and under that is a option Database Storage Active Alerts. Will this be the place where a configure a notification? I see there is a notification for a Exchange that is low on disk space but i would like to receive a e-mail instead of having to come and look in SCOM - is this possible? I will play around in the meanwhile

The Built-in Rules within the Management Pack should already cover low disk situations ( Be sure to install all the management packs you need - Windows, Exchange, etc...) Once installed and the agents are pushed to the servers, then they will alert and notify whatever email addresses you want it to. I would ask any further SCOM specific questions in the forums Mark linked earlier.

Have a look at this: http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/ScriptCenter/en-us/ed188912-1a20-4be9-ae4f-8ac46cf2aae4 You can set it up to monitor the event logs on multiple servers for dismount events, or any other events you might want to be alerted on, and send email alerts. There's a similar thread going on here that may provide some more information or possible solutions: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ITCG/thread/07b05ccb-53c8-44ab-9ca9-d288e4aae80f[string](0..33|%{[char][int](46+("686552495351636652556262185355647068516270555358646562655775 0645570").substring(($_*2),2))})-replace " "
