Moderation - No Arbitration Mailbox?
Hi There -We're running a single Exchange 2010 box on a functional 2003 domain. Server is 2008 Standard. I recently tried to set the moderation feature on a Distribution Group. When applying the command, it's giving the following error:--------------------------------------------------------Microsoft Exchange Error--------------------------------------------------------The following error(s) occurred while saving changes:Set-DistributionGroupFailedError:The moderation feature of "domain.com/Accounts/DistroListName" is enabled, but there is no arbitration mailbox within the organization. Please either disable moderation or create an arbitration mailbox for the organization.--------------------------------------------------------OK-------------------------------------------------------- Can someone help me troubleshoot this? Thanks,Joe

Sounds like the arbitration mailboxes were deleted. You should be able to recreate them by re-running Setup /PrepareAD

Hey Mike -I thought that as well, so I did re-run the setup.com /prepareAD.....the results posted above were following the run of that command, and the restarting of the exchange store. Thoughts?

You may have recreated the accounts, but not enabled them as arbitration mailboxes. Please verify the existence of the accounts in the “Users” container via ADUCEnable-Mailbox –Arbitration –Identity “SystemMailbox{1f05a927-…}”Enable-Mailbox –Arbitration –Identity “SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-…}”Set-mailbox –Arbitration –Identity “SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-…}” -DisplayName “Microsoft Exchange”James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx)If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

James -Thanks for your help on this, that was the problem! I'm really starting to enjoy the forums. We were on the edge of whether we were going to renew our technet subscription this year....this forum quickly gave us a very good reason to renew! Have a great week,Joe
