Moderated Distribution Group Exchange 2007
Is it possible to create a moderated distribution group in Exchange 2007? I basically have an "All Users" distribution group that needs messagesto be approved before actually being distributed to everyone in the organization. I have reada couple of articles but wanted to know the most efficient and painless way to set his up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Tim, It is not possible to set moderation to approve each and every mail before delivering to members of distribution group in Exchange 2007. However to control the delivery from various users you can set deliver restriction on DL. How to Configure Message Delivery Restrictions http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb397214.aspx Basically in organization, such DL like All Users, people restricts all other users and allows only HR and Management (and/or admin) to be able to send mails related to company wide information and in this way you can set kind of manual moderation on DL.

James,Thank you for your post and the changes required for Exchange 2007. I do have a question about item number 12 in the "Clean up and Secure" section. I am trying to set up a delivery restriction so that only the public folder can send to the security group but the public folder is not shown in the list of recipients. How can I addthe public folder when it is not listed?Tim

Hi Tim,You need to make public folder mail-enabled to get it listed in GAL.How to Mail-Enable Public Foldershttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997560.aspxAmit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Amit,The public folder is already mail-enabled and listed in the GAL. I can send and receive mail to andfrom the public folder. The problem is that when Iattempt to restrict a group to only receive mail from the public folder, the folder is not listed as a possible recipient.Iseeuser mailboxes, groups, contacts, etc but not the public folder itself listed in the GUI console. I am thinkingthis has to be done with the Management Shell but have not found the proper command syntax. Any other ideas?Tim

Hi Tim, Did you manage to find any solution to this problem? I amexperiencingthe same problem and have no clue as of how to work around this issue. Moderators, Please advice. The suggested method in James's post would not be useful if this issue cannot be resolved.
