Mixed Exchange 2007 / 2013 environment - impact of AD 2003 to 2008 migration

Hi,

I asked a similar question in the Windows Server forums at:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/668d625e-7e26-4ed8-aed7-e1b77abb6496/server-2003-r2-ad-migration-to-server-2008-r2-with-exchange-2007-2013?forum=winserverMigration

Basically we have an AD2003 domain and a partially migrated Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 environment.

We'd like to move the domain to 2008 native mode and due to time constraints, this would need to happen before the Exchange migration was completed.

I know 2008 is old.. but we need to match another domain we are going to move into ours (basically manually creating their GP structure and etc in our domain, then moving the machines across). Once that is done we would move AD further forward.

Does anyone know if going from native AD2003 to native AD2008 has the potential to cause issues for Exchange/AD? Even thoughts or suggestions or "gotcha's" would be a good start.

Thank you in advance for your replies!

You should be good.  Both environments support 2008 domain functional level.  While I personally haven't changed domain levels in the middle of a migration, but I don't think you should run into any issues.
