Mixed 2003/2007 exchange, problems with 2003 users accessing web email externally (redirects to internal url)..
I'm not sure if i have things setup correctly.. but if i have some of our 2003 mailbox users access webmail via https://wan1.domain.local/exchange.. they get prompted for userid and password, as expected.. once entering their info.. either i'll get a page cannot be displayed error.. or it will error out as it tries to access https://exchange01.domain.local/exchange Obviously, unless they have vpn this wont work (i tried it on a vpn machine and i can get in to the 2003 box just fine)... How do i make access for 2003 exchange boxes work from the outside (2007 boxes are accessed just fine with the external address and /owa).. Thanks

My money is on IIS permissions on your backend exchange 03 server. When i migrated i had to make sure integrated authentication was allowed on the active sync and /exchange directories for the CAS to be able to give OWA to 03 users.

I ended up just switchin the ssl port on the 2003 IIS.. once i did this, i just gave the 2003 users the new address with the port in front and it worked.. of course it hosed the activesync on pdas that are still 2003.. so i just migrated those boxes for now.. only 6 users remain of 40.. hoping to be fully migrated in a few days
