Hello people, We are going to make a completely Exchange and domain migration in our Company. At this moment we have an unique Domain Interlagos.local in France, and secondary Domain Controllers in other locations like Spain, Italy and Belgium. Each one of course in different Sites. All are Windows 2003 R2 Domain Controllers. We have a Front End Exchange 2003 Server in France, and Back-end servers in Spain, Italy and Belgium, so all the mail is recieved directly in France, and then resend to the corresponding Exchange Server (depending on the user mailbox). All the company mailbox users have the interlagos.com mail sufix name. We are going to separate all the sites in individual domains, with his own Exchange servers (and own mail sufix name, from interlagos.com to interlagos.COUNTRY SUFFIX). So the steps are going to be (in each location): - Create a new Domain Controller with the new Windows domain name. For example, in Spain Interlagos.int or interlagosSpain.local...whatever. - Create a new Exchange Server in that domain, because there will be a new mail space name for mail there, for example in Spain interlagos.es. At this point, which are the best options and steps to do the migration?, I mean, we have to create the new Windows user accounts in the domain, and then migrate the mailboxes to the new server, but we have to still receiving the interlagos.com mail from France for some weeks, until we have the interlagos.es operative at 100% and all the clients and delivers has been informed about that change. Is there any possibility of stablish a domain relationship (or Exchange relationship?), so we can have the mailboxes in the new Exchange server (interlagos.es) but receiving the mails directly from the other old Exchange server? (interlagos.com). We have the new spacename interlagos.es ready, but no MX record has been published yet... Any suggest? Thanks in advanced

To me it's look like cross forest migration, from abc.com to xyz.com I would suggest you to use BinaryTree migration tool and it will make your life simple. They got one tool called E2E migration. Good morning, One "Barbarian idea"... When we cut the network link beetwen France and Spain, could we force the secondary domain controller there, to be the principal? (like a disaster on the principal?), which could that mean for the exchange server? (it is only backup end for that domain name, interlagos.com...), i mean, it´s an Exchange Organization, you break the link...to force Spain to be the same domain that in France (there is not going to be again a link and relationship), and the same Exchange Organization... If that its not possible (too crazy, I know...), the steps could be: - New Domain with new domain controller (interlagosSpain.local). - New Exchange Organization with new Exchange Server, with the interlagos.es domain name allowed to send/recieve. - MX record pointing to that new Exchange. For the users, I mean, the best its before breaking the link, doing a domain relationship so we can start to repplying folder permissions, and migrating whatever?...any suggest?.. And for the mailboxes, is there any relationship between the 2 different exchanges servers (organizations), to move it from one to another? thanks in advanced

Ok, sorry, i tried to explain in the first post, maybe my english should be improved :) Currently, we have one only domain global for the central (France) and delegations (Spain, Italy and Belgium). We have a network link of 20 MBs symetrics between each delegation and the central. The mail sufix domain name until these days, have been interlagos.com.In the Central there is 2 front end servers and there are back-end servers in the central and in each delegation (all exchange 2003 servers, 2003 domain server as well), Domain Principal FSMO Roles controller, in France, and in each delegation a secondary. For corporate decisions, it´s going to be a separate TI administration, so the network link between each delegation and the central it´s going to be cut off, and each national delegation it´s going to have and manage it´s own exchange domain mail sufix name (for Spain, interlagos.es). So, we lost the domain principal controller (need new domain...or the barbarian idea...), and our back-end exchange server with interlagos.com management, dissappear...

One question, For the migration from a windows 2003 domain (English), to a windows 2003 domain (Spanish), Can I use the ADMT and PWDMIG tools?... The language would not be the same...could it be a problem?, Is there any way of doing the migration easiest beeing a 2003 to 2003 migration? thanks in advanced

As I can see, that tool migrates the user accounts that you want to migrate...but what about GPOs or Computer Machines?...This must to be migrate manually?... thanks in advanced

Im testing (not started yet, only preparing doc) the V3, because both source and target are Windows 2003 server. Ok, I see that you have the following options: - User Account Migration Wizard. - Group Account Migration Wizard. - Computer Migration Wizard ***** That is!***** - Security Translation Wizard. - Reporting Wizard. - Service Account Migration Wizard. ¿Exchange Directory Wizard? So, as you can see, for 40 users, it is recommend to migrate with that wizard the computers?... About the Exchange ones...it could be used in my case?... thanks in advanced

Last question about Exchange migration... How can we configure the coexistence of the 2 different domain exchange servers, one with interlagos.com and the other one with interlagos.es, for the users to be possibility of reciving both mails at the same time?? thanks in advanced

Hi, I assume that you have migrated all the users and mailboxes to the target forest. There's no user object and mailbox in the source forest. Then we can try to add the old domain name as Authoritative Domain,thus user can receive email which sent to the old domain.
