Migrating from onmicrosoft.com to outlook.com

Hi ...

I have for a year or more now had my email account on onmicrosoft.com as my primary email account in Outlook 2013 for desktop.

I want to revert back to outlook.com, but i cannot! It seems that I cannot get my data the same way.

I have backed up my onmicrosoft.com account to a local PST-file, and removed this account. In the Mail-applet in Control Panel I then connected Outook to my outlook profile, but when I start to import from the onmicrsoft.pst file, I get an error stating that this is not possible.

When I try to import, or open the PST-file and try to copy from folder to folder, I get this message that this cannot be done, because the service provider do not support this.

How can I still import and use my data?

Hi,

Based on the description, you keep all the emails of the onmicrosoft.com account in a .pst file, but now you can't import emails from the .pst file to the Outlook.com account, is that correct?

If you have setup the Outlook.com as an Exchange ActiveSync account, you can't import items into it, it's currently by design.

But it seems Outlook.com now supports IMAP, you can setup the Outlook.com account via the settings below:

incoming IMAP mail server imap-mail.outlook.com Incoming IMAP mail server port: 993; Encryption: SSL

Outgoing SMTP mail server smtp-mail.outlook.com

Outgoing SMTP mail server port: 587; Encryption: SSL (TLS)

Server Requires Authentication (ON)

Once the IMAP account is setup, try to import again.

All my email and appointments of the onmicrsoft.com account in an ost-file.

The tool you mention is installed and tested. Tells me that a few things are wrong, but I don't seem to be able to fix them.

I'll return with a repost, if I remember it, but from today and well into september, I just have no time for this problem.

Hi,

What is the account type of the Outlook.com account? As mentioned If you have setup the Outlook.com as an Exchange ActiveSync account, you can't import items into it, it's currently by design. So I suggest IMAP, through which you can move/import items into it.

This method is pretty much all I can suggest on the Outlook desktop level. You can also post the question in Outlook.com forum to get more dedicated support:

Hi ...

I did as you recommended.

I set up Outlook 2013 with at pop3 account at outlook.com

Now I cannot log in to my exchange server account.

The error says:

Klikk her for logge av.

Lr mer

Translated: You are noe logged in with av Microsoft-account as tresfjording@tresfjording.onmicrosoft.com, but you cannot use this account with Outlook. Logg off the Microsoft-account, and then log on again to Outlook, using the account you use to read the organizations mail. (close enough)

I am really flabbergasted that MS is keeping me away from my email, contact, tasks and calendar. I want to get into the exchange servers settings to turn off a forwarding rule ...
