Migrating Exchange 2007 Mailboxes from Server 2003 to server 2008
Hi All I'm looking initially at moving the SAN stored mailboxes from Windows Server 2003 Exchnage 2007 CCr to Windows server 2008 mailboxes. these are on physical servers. Current setup: mailbox1 - (Windows Server 2003 x64 Ent, Exchange Server 2007 SP3) mailbox2 - (Windows Server 2003 x64 Ent, Exchange Server 2007 SP3) I have created two additonal servers below and created a new CCR cluster which is seen on the HUB servers alongside the current 2003 CCR cluster. (Hub servers are still 2003 server) mailbox4 - (Windows server 2008 R2 x64 Ent, Exchange Server 2007 SP3) mailbox5 - (Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Ent, Exchange Server 2007 SP3) My question is really how do I transfer the mailboxes on the LUNS from the old 2003 servers to the new 2008 servers with relative ease? In non techincal terms i'd like to be able to just re-point the san to the new mailbox servers and off i go. Thanks

-- Dismount the Database mailbox1 - (Windows Server 2003 x64 Ent, Exchange Server 2007 SP3) mailbox2 - (Windows Server 2003 x64 Ent, Exchange Server 2007 SP3) -- Mount the Same Databases in mailbox4 - (Windows server 2008 R2 x64 Ent, Exchange Server 2007 SP3) mailbox5 - (Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Ent, Exchange Server 2007 SP3) -- Now Move the Mailboxes using ConfigurationOnly switch For One Mailbox Get-Mailbox "Mailbox Name" | Move-Mailbox -TargetDatabase "New DB name" -ConfigurationOnly For Specific Database Get-Mailbox -Database "Old DatabaseName" | Move-Mailbox -TargetDatabase "New DB name" -Configurationonly --- The ConfigurationOnly parameter changes the Exchange server location in the Active Directory directory service. Use this parameter to direct the mailbox to a functional server. The mailbox content is not moved. To use this parameter, the destination mailbox must be located on an Exchange 2007 server. The ConfigurationOnly parameter does not let you change an Exchange 2007 mailbox location to an Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2000 mailbox location. Also, we recommend that the source Mailbox server be available when you use this parameter. If the source Mailbox server is not available the operation takes much longer than expected. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997599(EXCHG.80).aspx Satheshwaran Manoharan | Exchange 2003/2007/2010 | Blog:http://www.careexchange.in | Please mark it as an answer if it really helps you
