Migrated to Exchange 2007 and some small problems
This is kind of a weird problem. I can send and receive with a exchange clients and mac clients like entourage. But when I have a peice of software like Backup exec or Say a Fax machine that sends mail Via Smtp. The device and or software will send inside the domain. For example if the domain was goofy.com I can send to jb.goofy.com. But if I try to send out side of this to yahoo.com or aol.com. The mail is not sent. I dont even see any events or bounce backs. Any help would be appreciated thanks Jerry

If you turn logging on to Verbose on you hub transport you will probably notice an unable to relay error. Check the permissions for the receive connector.

Jimthecp I check the Client Receive connector it is just set to Exchange client as the Permissions. If you set it to Verbose were would the log be. I thought this is connector is just who can receive mail. Does it have something to do with sending? thanks Jerry

Jerry, I had a similar problem as this. As the other poster says, check the receive connector permissions. What I actually did was to create a custom 'Internal' receive connector so I could control exactly what was able to send mail from inside my network. I included things like a couple of multi-function copy devices that can email, as well as a few servers that generate email reports that need to be sent out. What I did was create a new receive connector with only specified internal IP addresses allowed on the Network tab. For permission groups, I put Exchange Servers. This took care of any issues I had with relaying of mail from my internal network to the outside world. Rob

Rob We were one setting off. You were correct. We needed to create a custom Receive connector for port 25. Then only allow the ip addresses of the servers that needed to send through the server. The Permissions Tab would only have Exchange servers selected. The Authentication tab would have to check boxes TLS at the very top and Secure on the Bottom. Screen shots are found on the You HAd me at Ehlo Exchange 2007 page. I think you need to search for Application Server. I would have put the exact page but the site must me down http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/category/10058.aspx thanks again for all you help Jerry
