Microsoft Search on Exchange 2003 2 node cluster fails on start
I've been trying to diagnose a problem with the Microsoft Search Instance on my exchange cluster. I ran into the KB 310586 which describes a proceedure to rebuild the serivce. I complared HLM\..\database registry subkeys on the broken cluster to another working Exchange cluster. I see regkey entries that do not exist on the broken cluster nodes. There is a FileName key and a LogPath key each with string values on the good cluster. Couldnt I just recreate the registry keys based on what I know from my good cluster?

Yes, all nodes should have pointed the FileName and LogPath to the corresponding drive location. Please follow the procedure in the KB 830189 to recreate the related entriesJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
