Microsoft Exchange Server
We are having issues with getting mail from Outlook. There is a message that keeps coming up, says the exchange server is not available. The message says that there are either network problems or, the Microsoft exchange server is down for maintenance.
I can not seem to get to a point where I can restart the exchange server. A new twist this morning, it says that the MAPI provider failed..
We are operating on Windows NT 2000..

Can you check the Exchange information store service and also ping the exchange server from the client side.
Check the Database is mounted or not
Post the application logs from Event Viewer.
Thanks

Hi,
What versions of outlook and exchange you are using?
Have you tried to access OWA? What's result?
I recommend you first try to create a new outlook profile. When configuring new outlook profile, please input the exchange server’s name and your user account. Then click
'Check' button. If you still get the message such as "The action cannot be completed. The connecting to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable", try to ping the exchange server ‘name. If the request timed out, please verify
the following settings on exchange server:
1. Verify if the Windows Firewall is disabled.
2. Verify if the 'Microsoft Exchange information store' and 'Microsoft Exchange System Attendant' services are started.
If you are not the administrator of the Exchange server, please report this problem to them.
