Hi Microsoft forum, firstly thanks for the free trial...it looks great. Unfortunately, after many hours of configuration, I am still unable to use the email server with other pcs on my local network and also via the external internet with Outlook Anywhere and OWA. The problem is the 2nd field to enter the 'Prefix name in Active Directory Domain Services' is greyed out. I can click the cursor into the greyed out field which also flashes, however typing is not possible. This also causes the 'OK' button on the bottom right to remain greyed out. This is located from the step where I should enter a new subnet to create a new active directory site. This is found under: 1. Open AD Sites and Services. 2. Click the plus sign (+) to expand the Sites tree. 3. Right-click Subnets and choose New and Subnet. 4. Enter the address prefix using network prefix notation. This requires the address and the prefix length, where the prefix length shows the number of fixed bits in the subnet. The example shown in Figure 7.7 uses the 192.168.80.0/24 subnet, providing us with a Class C (255.255.255.0) subnet. Next, select a site to associate with the subnet and click OK. Hi Jonas, the version of DCs are Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controller. Exchange 2010 is running on this same server as it's my test lab (I know Microsoft recommends not to do this once on the production line). Yes, this is the same problem on every DC. (I only have one DC being the xxxxx.local). Yes, this means I cannot create a new subnet in Exchange 2010 Active Directory Sites and Services/Sites/Subnets. Thanks.

Well, fyi, gave up on Microsoft Exchange 2010. Ran Windows SBS 2008 with exchange 2007 and way easier.

Not sure if this helps but I just had the same issue with SCCM 2007 when I was adding a subnet to my site - you don't actually add a prefix name in the field - you have to correctly type in the ip range and subnet you are using (prefix name automatically fills itself in) for example if your subnet is 255.255.255.0 your prefix should read 192.168.1.0/24.
