Microsoft Excel has stopped working

Please help.

I am currently running Microsoft office 365 using the 64 bit. I have been having issues with all my office programs. They run fine while I am in them but when I close out I get a message saying "Microsoft has stopped working, checking for solution" then another window that says "Microsoft excel is trying to recover information" followed by a third window that says "Microsoft Excel has stopped working , a problem caused the program to stop working correctly..." I need help please.

Hi,

Could you help me with some information below:

  1. Did you have previous version Office installed in your system before? Like Office 2010/2007 or others?
  2. Did the issue happen at the first time when you using Office 365 after you installation?
  3. What is your operating system, is it Windows 7 or Windows 8.1?
  4. Do you have Office 365 installed in another computer? If so, do you have this problem on other computer?
  5. Could you please check if there any information logged in Event log?

Meanwhile we can try some general steps below:

  1. Make sure both your OS system and Office 365 is up to date.
  2. Perform a clean boot see if it solve the issue, refer toKB929135 - How to Perform a clean boot.
  3.  Whether you have antivirus is conflicting with Office 356

Please help me with the information in the first section and let me know if the steps in second section works for you.

Thank you.

If he won't reply, I WILL

have tried EVERYTHING, even MS Tech on phone looking for ABBY Reader (have none)

Years ago I tried the trail version of Office 365 but it crashed trying to install.  Uninstalled all of that.

Bought Home & Student Office 2013, eventually the bugs ran out of it it worked until this month, just to run ONE program I need seldom but can't live without.  That eng. program used to be XLSM, new version is XLS.

Norton allows Excel comms freely

win8.1-64 fully updated weekly

Done repairs, on-line repairs, uninstall/reboot/installs, even did another trial Office 365 installation after uninstall/reboot = same problem

a problem caused the program to stop working correctly

excel /r excel /s (also winword)

got excel /s up long enough to sign in, even insured default printer communicating, rid of add-ins

NO DICE

Hi,

Does Excel crash on opening particular file or all excel files?

And I'm a bit confused by "Bought Home & Student Office 2013, eventually the bugs ran out of it it worked until this month, just to run ONE program I need seldom but can't live without.  That eng. program used to be XLSM, new version is XLS"

1. "it worked until this month, just to run ONE program I need seldom but can't live without", could you give me more context on this? Do you mean Office works fine till you run a program? Is this program an feature of Office? Or other program? And what is the name of this program?

2. "eng. program used to be XLSM, new version is XLS", I also have a bit difficulty of understanding this. What is the eng. program stands for? do you mean Older version of Excel?

Besides above questions, could you check if there any related information logged in Event log?

Thanks.
