Messages not outgoing in Exchange 2007, despite connectors
I recently upgraded to 2007 (on 2008 x64) from 2003, I moved all of the mailboxes and so forth. I already setup receiving and sending connectors, and while I can receive mail from the outside just fine, I cannot send it (it seems to disappear) nor can I send to other internal users. I've redone my sending connectors several times now, I set it up with the following line:
--
new-SendConnector -Name 'Send connector to Internet' -Usage 'Internet' -AddressSpaces 'smtp:*;1' -DNSRoutingEnabled $true -UseExternalDNSServersEnabled $false -SourceTransportServers 'MAIL2'
--
Here's my get-sendconnector

I have three domain controllers (one is 2003 and is going to be decommissioned soon, the others are 2008) and the exchange sever, I don't have any edge servers or anything like that.
I'm not sure what else step to take, as every site I've come across essentially tells me to setup the sending connector in the exact same way, every time, and it doesn't work.
This is for work, so the sooner this works the better, any help is greatly appreciated! =D

Are you using any smart host ? if yes , then try to remove it and try to send it directly to the internet.
Check if any AV program on the server is blocking any thing ( as you said even internal mails are not working). Try to track a message and see where that is getting stcuk.
Also run the exbpa and see u can see some errors or some non default settings.Raj

The solution was really simple. In my \etc\hosts file, I had the previous IP address of the mail server listed, instead of it's new one. Everything else was fine, as soon as I fixed that, it worked perfectly.

But why you need to have IP entry in the host file. If your DNS is in good shape and getting resolved properly, you dont any entry in host files.
Any ways, Glad that your problem got resolved.Raj
