Messages Deleting by Themselves
Sort of new to Exchange, but I am seeing the strangest phenomenon. This user will recieve an email, and a minute or two later it will 'permanently delete'. In other words, it doesn't bother going to the Recycle Bin, just goes right to the dumpster. It doesn't seem to matter which client is being used. This is being manifested with Outlook 03 running in cached mode or online mode. Also with OWA. If recreated her profile multiple times. Confirmed she's got no rules running. Confirmed Auto-Archive isn't doing anything strange. Basically I've tried everything I can in order to hand this off to the desktop guys as a client issue, but all signs are pointing to a larger problem on the Exchange side. Has anyone heard of something this bizarre before? Any thoughts?

Hi, I have faced this probem with Exchange 2003, where all of a sudden all the Inbox emails used to get disappeared. This happend rendemly with multiple users. The problem stopped after few days. Couldn't figure out the reason. Regards, Nzm

I've experienced similar issues with a user once, which in my case was some sort of corrupted rule, which was not visible from the outlook client. When I opened the mailbox using mdbviewer (Mdbvu32.exe) there were still rules available. I deleted the rules and the problem was over.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320022 Another thing I would try is move the maibox, which will skip corrupted items. Also check for delegates. Sometimes it is someone else's client messing up things.

Also check to see if another MAPI session is open for the same user. The other session might be running a rule or delivering directly to PST. Tony www.activedir.org
